Vijaya Gurunatha Sethupathi Kalimuthu (born sixteen January 1978), known professionally as Vijay Sethupathi, is an Indian player and producer who predominantly works in Tamil cinema, in addition to few Malayalam, Telugu and Hindi films.[4] [5] Referred to past fans and media as "Makkal Selvan" ("People's Treasure"), he has starred in more than 50 films including several successful ventures.[half-dozen] [7] He is a recipient of several awards.

Sethupathi has three siblings, one elder brother, one younger blood brother and one younger sister.[11] He returned from Dubai in 2003 to marry his girlfriend, Jessie, whom he had met and dated online.[11] They have two children, a son Surya and a daughter Shreeja.[92] He named his son Surya in the remembrance of his friend who died during his schoolhouse days. Surya made his acting debut playing the younger version of Sethupathi in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015).[93] Surya appeared with his male parent once more in Sindhubaadh (2019).[94]
